So Beautiful!

Wow! Beautiful sweater and beautiful model :). I finally finished this sweater and it was super fun. I followed a pattern from the Berrocco Glint book (http://berroco.com/304.309/306/306_photoview_pv.html) and I plan to try out a few more from this book. The yarn is mostly cotton so it will be a nice light sweater for the summer. It also took some time to get used to knitting through the back loop... not sure if I know how to knit regularly now. Here is the back:

Tag it!

I love adding  final personal touch to my work so I buy clothing tages from http://www.namemaker.com/. The tags are great. The only down side is the shipping is $$$. (So friends if you want to buy some together- these are the tags I buy- http://www.namemaker.com/productcart/pc/Woven-Clothing-Label-Designs-You-Select-imprint-c19.htm )

This tag is from a scarf I made Franco :)- A simple ribbed stitch, it rolled a bit because I didnt have a stiff enough border. I tried to iron it out, but it didnt work too well. The scarf is below.

Cellphone cases!

Cellphone cases are great and handy and super cute. I just knit a long strip and then peice it together with a yarn needle and add a button. I made a button hole using the yarn over method for the blue on but it really stretched out. Make sure you make the cell phone case snug because it will stretch.

A Charlie for Ashley!

About a year ago Ashley bought this book on how to make monkey's, I promised to learn and teach her. Any knitter knows that projects get put away for a long time, with her birthday approaching I decided to monkey up! Low and behold CHARLIE!
His legs :)

Hairband

Sandra bought this amazing yarn from Mary's Yarn's by Berocco and made a belt. She had some left over for me to make a hairband. I used circular needles 4mm and casted on 75 stitches following K,K,P ribbed stitch. It was too small, I stretched it out so it fits comfortably on my head now, but next time I would cast on 78 or 81 stitches.

The Nonna!

My nonna is the best crochet woman I know. She can look at something and crochet it! She also knits and has taught me a few crochet stitches. I love her dearly and have dedicated this post to a wonderful woman who has inspired me to knit and crochet.
This is Nonna crocheting Katie's blanket... shes wearing a scarf I made her and Im wearing of her famous crochet creations.

My Sweater

I made a beautiful sweater from a Knit Bot pattern called the lightweight pullover  (http://knitbot.com/patterns/) . It took a lot of time and effort, however for a sweater that is knit from the neck down it wasn’t too difficult. I used some beautiful silk/marino wool bought from the Purple Purl on Queen (http://www.thepurplepurl.com/).

Crazy Coasters

These are my crazy coasters and attempts at trying out various stitches.  I have this amazing book: 400 Knitting Stitches by Potter Craft (amazon link: http://www.amazon.ca/400-Knitting-Stitches-DIctionary-Essential/dp/0307462730) where I learned how to make some interesting stitches. This picture is of the four famous ones, I use them in my room as cup coasters for my water bottle or cup of my favourite beverage.

Frilly Scarves Part II

There is also a Frill Seeker Lace Effect which makes a different kind of frilly scarf. Its not as popular as the first type, however it does have a cool spring look to it! Here is a picture of Luna trying it out.

Spring is frilly scarf season!

This has been a new knitting obsession for me. I just love the frilly scarf! I found two companies which make the yarn to create this frilly scarf look: Katia and Frill Seeker by Estelle. Both are wonderful yarns; however I have noticed many differences with the yarn. I bought them at Mary’s Yarns in Unionville, Ontario (which is one of the most beautiful yarn shops). The Katia is more delicate and flimsy. I knit it with a 5.5 and maybe that was too big. After much wearing and throwing around my white Katia frilly scarf began to look old.  The frill seeker yarn looks a bit more full and  is less delicate. Attached is a free pattern from the Estelle website:  http://www.estelledesigns.ca/images/PDF%20Pad%20Patterns%20Autumn%202010/EP10-06%20Frill%20Seeker%20Scarf.pdf
Here are some pictures:

Look for more frilly scarf posts!
